Organisations with local events:

South East Essex Organic Gardeners

We formed South East Essex Organic Gardeners (SEEOG) in 1994 to promote the principles of organic gardening, which include the composting of organic waste, the protection of wildlife, the reduction of pollution and the encouragement of species diversity.  We hold regular public meetings, attend two local farmers’ markets in Rochford and Leigh-on-Sea and exhibit at shows and open days such as the Southend Apple Day at St. Laurence Orchard in Eastwood. In addition, we also organise outings and give talks. We organise six meetings a year, in January, March, May, July, September and November on a Monday evening, starting in January, at Growing Together Westcliff. Please use the entrance in Prittlewell Chase, Westcliff-on-Sea SS0 9AG (corner of Fairfax Drive and Prittlewell Chase). SE Essex Seed Potato Day in February is our main attraction, in partnership with Trust Links, details of which can be found elsewhere on our website. Our speakers start at 8.00pm, but Growing Together will be open from 7.00pm to allow members to browse our Library, etc. etc. Please see our Newsletter for dates and details. Non-members can attend for a small charge. New members are always welcome, whether or not they have a garden or allotment. The Institute of Advanced Motorists (I.A.M.)

Will Meet at Hockley Community Centre Every 2nd Month.  As a charity the Institute of Advanced Motorists (the IAM) supports the raising of driving and riding standards and campaigns for increased on-road skills.  We support and represent motorists, motorcyclists and cyclists through practical driving and riding programmes and urge all road users to act more responsibly and safely.  We also aim to inform and influence government and decision makers to ensure that road safety remains a relevant topic and receives the focus and investment that it requires.  Our commercial business subsidiary, IAM Drive and Survive, promotes occupational driver improvement throughout the fleet/business community. This helps employers achieve their duty of care to employees and also help to reduce road accidents whilst driving on business.  We also offer Drink Drive Rehabilitation courses throughout parts of England and Wales, delivered by the IAM Driver Retraining Academy (IAMDRA).  The South Essex group of the I.A.M. will meet at 8pm on the first Wednesday of the second month commencing in February 2014 at Hockley Community Centre and thereafter ... Rochford Running Club - 2013 Events .  Rochford Running Club (RRC) was formed in the summer of 2012 following the success of a number of beginners groups aimed at helping local people to get fitter by running.  Since then the Club has grown steadily and has gained affiliation with the sport's governing body, England Athletics, and now has a growing list of members, nine of who have qualified as either 'leaders' or 'coaches' in running fitness training.  The Club prides itself on being welcoming to runners of all standards, from absolute beginners through to seasoned ultra-marathoners! The regular groups for beginners have continued as have a group of 'improvers' that aim to bridge the gap to the main running groups. The main Club Nights are every Tuesday and Thursday evening, gathering at 7.15pm to start at 7.30pm. Anyone that can comfortably run three miles without stopping is welcome to join the main group; those that are not quite at that level are encouraged to progress through the other groups initially.  The Club Nights consist of various sessions, including intervals, hills and tempo runs. The diversity of the Rochford district is utilised to its full extent, especially during the summer months, with off-road sessions in places such as Hockley Woods, Jubilee Country Park and the Roach sea wall.  Anyone who would like to find out more information about RRC should log onto the Club website at www.rochfordrunningclub.org.uk .
